Man rescued from surf at Cortez Beach

A man pulled from the surf Saturday and resuscitated by beachgoers at Cortez Beach was listed in stable condition at press time Monday.

The man, who was not identified, apparently suffered from medical conditions when he entered the Gulf of Mexico in the 300 block of Gulf Drive South at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Bradenton Beach Police Lt. John Cosby. The man was knocked over by a wave, his wife tried to help him to shore, and other beachgoers came to his aid, performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

He was transported to Blake Medical Center.
