No opposition for Anna Maria incumbent commissioners
There won’t be any need for election campaigning for a city commission seat in Anna Maria this fall. In fact, there won’t even be an election for the commission.
Only incumbent Anna Maria city commissioners John Quam, Dale Woodland and Christine Tollette qualified for the Nov. 6 election. According to the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Office, it is understood that each candidate will vote for themselves; hence there’s no need to print up a ballot and hold an election.
Quam will be serving his fourth consecutive two-year term, while Woodland will enter his third term and Tollette her second. She first won a seat on the commission in 2005.
One unidentified man did pick up an election packet at city hall, but that person never submitted the papers to qualify for the election.
Candidates had until noon Sept. 18 to file their papers and be certified by the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Office.
