Shaw Holmes Beach Police Officer Michael Pilato apprehended three people after they attempted to burglarize a car in the parking lot of the Manatee Public Beach Aug. 16. The car’s owner saw two men in her car as she returned from the beach at about 1 p.m. She watched as two of the trio burglarized and then fled her car to a waiting vehicle, driven by another man, and then left. The woman, who was unnamed, called Holmes Beach Police with descriptions and a license plate number. Pilato apprehended the men, two of them juveniles, as well as Robert L. Shaw, 20, of Venice, and charged them with burglary to a conveyance. The juveniles also face charges of resisting arrest without violence.
