2008 storm tracker
Dolly, forming in the western Caribbean Sea, became a tropical storm on July 20 and a hurricane July 22. Dolly impacted south Texas on July 23.
- Cristobal formed as a tropical depression off the coast of South Carolina on July 18 and became a tropical storm on July 19.
- Bertha became the first hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic season on July 7. The storm formed off the coast of Africa on July 3.
- Arthur formed on May 31 and drenched the Yucatan.
Remaining names for the season: Edouard, Fay, Gustav, Hanna, Ike, Josephine, Kyle, Laura, Marco, Nana, Omar, Paloma, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky,Wilfred.
In May, the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration said there was a 90 percent chance the 2008 hurricane season would be near or above normal in terms of number and intensity of storms.
