AME dates to remember
The Anna Maria Elementary 2007-08 school calendar comes to a close this week with a few end-of-year celebrations:
- June 4, fifth-grade vs. staff kickball game.
- 6:30 p.m. June 5, PTO family skate night at Florida Wheels.
- June 5, early release at 1:15 p.m.,.
- Summer vacation begins June 6.
See you on Aug. 18 for the start of the 2008-09 school year.
Saturday, June 7
8 a.m. to 1 p.m. - The Bridge Street Market featuring produce, gifts, souvenirs and snacks takes place on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. Organizers encourage people to take the trolley and bring canvas bags to make the trip a “green” outing. Information: 941-518-4431.
8:30 a.m. - The Kiwanis Club of Anna Maria Island hosts a breakfast meeting at Cafe on the Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. The speaker is Nick Drizos of the SMART Horse Ranch. Information: 941-795-8697.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - The eighth annual Island Blood Drive takes place at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach. Information: 800-682-5663.

10 a.m. - The Island Branch Library, 5701 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach hosts a performance by the Tex Calli Mexican and Spanish Dancers. Information: 941-778-6341.
Noon: The Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island meets for lunch and a program at the BeachHouse Restaurant, 200 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach. The speaker is Erin "Tommy" Vaughan-Birch, a volunteer lecturer from Mote Marine Laboratory. Fee. Information: 941-778-1880.
Wednesday, June 11
7:45 a.m. - The Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce holds a breakfast program at the Sun House Restaurant, 111 Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. Information: 941-778-1541.
