Bradenton Beach

Feb 4, Coquina Park, trespass. Officers spotted a man in the park who had been issued a previous trespass warning. He was arrested.

March 2, 2200 block Gulf Drive, criminal mischief. The complainant said that someone had slashed two of the tires of his car. He suspected a prospective renter of the action.

March 2, 200 Gulf Drive, traffic. Officers stopped a pickup truck driver for traffic infractions and determined the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. He was arrested.

March 3, Anna Maria Island Bridge, controlled substance. Officers were called to assist with a crash on the Anna Maria Island Bridge. Officers noticed that the passenger, Vincent James Scolaro, 19, of Sarasota, attempted to throw a pill bottle into the water. The pill bottle was seized, and as the pills were determined not be prescription, he was arrested.

March 7, Coquina Beach Park, contributing alcohol to a minor. Officers found two minors drinking alcohol at the beach and issued citations. They were released to the custody of their mothers.

 

Holmes Beach

Feb. 29, 5000 block Guava Drive, theft. Officers arrested a juvenile on a Jan. 14 incident.

Feb. 29, 3100 block Avenue F, crash. Officers responded to an accident and found a vehicle “at rest with extensive damage underneath a carport,” according to the report. “The vehicle had traversed southbound … through a very large palm tree, uprooting it, continuing to travel with palm tree on top of the vehicle, striking the carport’s weight-bearing outer support beam, a 155-gallon propane tank and several toilets and fire extinguishers in the carport.” A car was also sideswiped, according to the report. The driver of the vehicle was not found. The vehicle was removed.

March 1, 4000 Gulf Drive, Manatee Public Beach, theft. The complainant said that someone took a backpack containing identification and cell phones.

March 1, 400 block 73rd Street, burglary. The complainant said he returned to his Florida home and discovered items disturbed and two clocks and a microwave oven missing.

March 2, 4000 Gulf Drive, Manatee Public Beach, trespass. Officers responded to lifeguard complaints of a man skimboarding in the swimming area. The skimmer was issued a trespass warning and left the beach.

March 3, 3900 East Bay Drive, Publix, theft. Officers were dispatched to the area where two men were suspected of taking groceries from the store. The suspects were spotted at Sunbow Bay condos. The receipt of the items totaled $118.90; the suspects were not located.

March 4, 7100 block Marina Drive, theft. The complainant said that someone took his 5-hp outboard motor from his boat.

March 5, 4000 Gulf Drive, Manatee Public Beach, trespass. Three suspects were observed drinking beer, vodka and “supplementing drinking mouthwash with alcohol content at the picnic tables at public beach,” according to the report. They were issued trespass warnings and left the beach.
