Press IDs requested in Bradenton Beach
City officials in Bradenton Beach last week issued an edict that members of the media wear name badges to meetings so they can readily be identified.
The March 6 missive from city government states, “Effective immediately, the city of Bradenton Beach will require all press to wear identification to any city meeting to identify who they are,” although the “order” was quickly amended to a courtesy request.
The original order from Police Chief Sam Speciale, is apparently to distinguish press from citizens and, according to the chief, the public has been vocal at some meetings. |
