West Coast Air keeps Rotten Ralph's cooled off

sport pic
Whitney Bauer makes a steal for her West Coast Air Conditioning team during basketball action at the Center.

Early on, it appeared that the Feb. 9 game between Anna Maria Island Community Center Basketball League Premier Division foes West Coast Air Conditioning and Rotten Ralph's would be a close one. WCAC battled hard for a 5-4 lead with just over 40 seconds left to play in the second quarter. A baseline jumper followed by a steal and a layup by West Coast Air's Matt Bauer changed all of that in a hurry.

Rotten Ralph's Cory Stickler scored on an offensive rebound to temporarily stem the 7-point WCAC run, but a baseline drive by Matt Bauer restored West Coast's 11-point lead. Rotten Ralph's last gasp at getting back into the game came when Celia Ware drove the lane for two and followed with a steal and a three-pointer to pull Ralph's to 18-12 with just over a minute to play in the half.

West Coast Air Conditioning closed the half with a 6-0 run on baskets by Kyle Parsons, Kirby and Matt Bauer to take a 24-12 lead into the half.
