Koenigs' sentencing postponed

A judge postponed until next month the sentencing of Mark Koenigs, the man convicted of shooting Holmes Beach resident and businesswoman Sue Normand.

A sentencing hearing was scheduled for Oct. 1, but postponed last week until 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13 before Judge Diana Mooreland.

A jury convicted Koenigs in the December 2007 shooting at Normand’s Island Mail & More store after about three hours of deliberation.

The jury, after an early August trial, convicted Koenigs of one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement. He faces a possible sentence of life in prison.

Koenigs remains in the Manatee County jail awaiting sentencing. He has been in custody since the shooting.

The sentencing hearing will take place at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
