Anna Maria City

Oct. 7, 8605 Gulf Drive, Crosspointe Fellowship, criminal mischief. The complainant said someone had used markers to place graffiti on the back entrance to the church.

Oct. 12, 200 block Gladiolus Street, domestic. The husband and wife apparently got into an argument when he came home late. The wife had left when deputies arrived, and no physical signs of violence were evident, according to the report.

Bradenton Beach

Oct. 6, 2600 block Gulf Drive, warrant. Officers observed a man riding his bicycle at night without lights. After stopping him and running his name through a record check, it was determined he had an outstanding warrant and he was arrested.

Holmes Beach

Oct. 6, 500 block 74th Street, burglary. The complainant said someone took his wallet and cell phone from his home while he was home overnight.

Oct. 7, 5404 Marina Drive, theft. The complainant said that someone took cash from two envelopes left in the night-drop of The Islander newspaper office from Ooh La La! Bistro. The complainant said she suspected two former employees.

Oct. 7, 71st Street and Marina Drive, criminal mischief. The complainant said someone had sprayed graffiti on street signs and the road.

Oct. 8, 5800 block Gulf Drive, criminal mischief. The complainant said someone took letters off the sign in front of the condominium and threw rocks at it. Damage was estimated at $400.

Oct. 8, 46th Street beach access, theft. The complainant said someone took her beach bag while she went for a walk on the beach. Witnesses identified the man who took the bag, which contained her car keys. Officers eventually located the man with the beach bag, who returned the bag and the woman declined to press charges.

Oct. 8, 6800 block Marina Drive, traffic. Officers noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed, which subsequently veered off the road and struck a palm tree, then backed up and left the scene. When the driver was stopped, he denied being involved in a traffic crash, although palm leaf material was on the left front portion of his vehicle. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Oct. 10, 6800 block Palm Drive, battery and trespass. According to the report, a man “was on the phone arguing with his ex-wife in the driveway of his home. He was being profane and loud. His neighbor … took offense as he had to listen to it and yelled for [him] to shut up. The man then took the argument from his wife to [the other man], and using some profanity told him to mind his own business.” A confrontation ensued, which later involved the first man’s brother, scissors and fisticuffs. “All parties involved had been consuming alcoholic beverages, which were complicating their communication skills,” according to the report. All parties agreed not to press charges, but a trespass warning was issued to the neighbor of the phone-bearer.
