Michael Allen Haupt
Michael Allen Haupt, 58, of Anna Maria, formerly of Lafayette, Ind., died Oct. 8.
He was formerly an automotive mechanic. He was a firefighter with the Longboat Key Fire Department.
A celebration of his life was Oct. 16 at West Manatee Fire & Rescue Station No. 1, Holmes Beach, with a reception to follow at Duffy’s Tavern, Holmes Beach. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Bradenton, was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by daughter Janae H. Rudicille of Holmes Beach; brother Dennis of Nashville, Tenn.; mother Joyce of Lafayette; and former wife and friend Carol Whitmore of Holmes Beach.
Shirley McClain
Shirley McClain, 65, formerly of Anna Maria Island, died Oct. 7.
Born in Lakeland, Mrs. McClain was a customer service representative for 23 years for Saddle Creek Corp. and worked for Publix for four years. She was a member of Bethany Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation was Oct. 9 and services Oct. 10 in Auburndale, Fla. Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburdale, was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by son John “Doonie” Jr. of Auburndale, Gary of Lakeland; brothers Donald Grimes of Lakeland, Coy Grimes of Pontotoc, Miss.; sisters Ada Donaldson of Polk city, Olene Middleton of Luverne, Ala., and Ellen Ingle of Tampa; four grandchildren; and her dog “Foxy Lady.”
John ‘Jack’ Harry Williamson
John “Jack” Harry Williamson, 85, of Bradenton, formerly of Holmes Beach and Farmington Hills, Mich., died Oct. 6.
Mr. Williamson worked for the Ford Motor Company for 43 years before his retirement in 1983. He was a graduate of Lawrence Technical Institute in 1953. He served three years in the U.S. Coast Guard as a pharmacist mate during World War II aboard the USS General George M. Randall. He was a volunteer fireman in Farmington Hills for 10 years, retiring as a district fire chief. He was a life-member of Masons, Redford Lodge No. 152 in Michigan, a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Tampa, Sahib Shrine Temple in Sarasota, and a member of Gulf Shrine Club. He was a member of the American Legion, Kirby Stewart Post No. 24, Bradenton, where he served as president in 1994. He was a past member of the planning commission in Holmes Beach. He was a long-standing member of Roser Memorial Community Church in Anna Maria City, where he served as a trustee, deacon and usher.

He is survived by wife of 64 years Ruth; sons John Jr., Paul and David; daughter Susan Strayer; sister Suzanne Antisdel; son-in-law Jerry Strayer; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. |
