The race for Division III soccer supremacy is tight. Only one victory separates first place from fourth place in the Anna Maria Island Community Center Soccer Leaguefs seven-team division and that doesnft count Creative Tile -currently undefeated but with two games rained out.
Island Real Estate sits atop the standings with a one-point lead over undefeated second-place team Ross Builders. Mr. Bones is one point behind Ross Builders, while Autoway Ford is three points back.
Division II Cannons has opened up a four-point lead in the standings, as has LaPensee Plumbing in Division I. However, with 10 ties in 28 contests between Division I and II, the competition is pretty even except when it comes to LaPensee. That team has been scoring goals at a frenetic pace led by the one-two scoring duo of Paulo Fonseca and Heldino Gomez. LaPensee has outscored its opponents 29-10, but still has two ties on its record.
The season is approaching the midway point so there is still time for teams to make a move for first place in each of the three divisions.
