Holmes Beach Mayor Rich Bohnenberger presents police dispatcher Bonnie Lalos with a plaque for 20 years of work with the city.

Holmes Beach Mayor Rich Bohnenberger honored city employees with certificates and a break from work Jan. 21.

The mayor gathered city employees at city hall for a brief ceremony at noon last Wednesday. Staff received certificates for years of service to the city, $10 coupons to Duffy’s Tavern and Lands’ End lunch-bags courtesy of Regions Bank. Most staff also received an afternoon off work.

“Thank you to each and every one of you,” Bohnenberger said to the staff gathered in the library. “A job well done.”

The personnel roster includes public works foreman Gary Blunden, Police Chief Jay Romine and Police Lt. Dale Stephensen, all with 22 years with the city.

Police Officer Robert Velardi has 21 years with the city and dispatcher Bonnie Lalos has 20 years, and she received a plaque for reaching that milestone.

Employees working on their teen years with the city include Steven Wolff, Susan Corsi, Brooke Bennett, Henry Frappier and Christine Hanula.

Public works superintendent Joe Duennes and assistant public works superintendent Bill Saunders both have 12 years with the city and Vernon McGowin, the police department’s marine officer, has 11 years on the job.

City treasurer Rick Ashley and code enforcement officer Nancy Hall both marked a decade with the city as of December 2008 and public works clerk Susan Lonzo has nine years with the city.

Other city employees, from nine years of service to rookies, include Wayne Vandermolen, Robert Shaffer, Leigh Llewelyn, Lori Kee, William Blakely, Richard Dotterweich, Michael Pilato, Myra Donnelly, David Forbes, Brian Copeman, Janet Gorman, Clifford Boltwood, Joel Pierce, Karen Clerkin, Steven Beck, Michael Leonard, David Benton, Stacey Johnston, Daniel Defee, Lawrence Rediker Jr., Robert McLoughlin, Stanley House, Brian Hall and Michael Walker.

Bohnenberger also held a drawing for several gift certificates, including certificates for BP Gas, the Time Saver, Hurricane Hanks and the Beach Bistro.
