Holmes Beach gains convicted sex offender
After being free of any resident convicted sex offenders for the past eight months, Holmes Beach now has a convicted sex offender living within the city.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported that a convicted sex offender from Michigan moved to the 400 block of 74th Street on Jan. 12.
The 33-year-old white male was convicted of sexual assault and attempted criminal sexual contact with a minor in Michigan. He has been released from supervision, but is still required to report his address to law enforcement authorities.
According to the FDLE, no other convicted sex offenders have moved to Holmes Beach since one such man living near the Anna Maria Elementary School moved back to the mainland last year after complaining that neighbors objected to his presence.
Another registered sex offender has been living in Holmes Beach on Flotilla Drive for several years. That individual has also been released from supervision.
The FDLE also said a 33-year-old convicted sex offender is still living in the 100 block of Spring Avenue in Anna Maria. The man was convicted of sexual battery, but has been released from supervision.
A 32-year-old man convicted as a sexual offender is still living in the 500 block of Gulf Drive South in Bradenton Beach, the FDLE said, although one neighbor has reported that the man has moved out of Bradenton Beach.
Florida law requires that all convicted sexual offenders register their address with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement even after their incarceration or supervision expires.
