5 p.m. - The Florida Department of Transportation holds a public meeting on the Anna Maria Island Bridge rehab at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach.

8 p.m. - “Over My Dead Body” opens at the Island Players playhouse, 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria. The play continues through Feb. 3. Information: 941-778-6878.

Friday, Jan. 18

1 p.m. - Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee holds a caregiver support group session at the Island Branch Library, 5701 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. Information: 941-748-3001.

Saturday, Jan. 19

8 a.m. until the fish is gone - The Anna Maria Island Privateers smoke and sell mullet in the Publix parking lot, 3900 E. Bay Drive, Holmes Beach, to raise money for the Sue Normand Relief and Recovery Fund. Information: 941-720-0426.

8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria, holds a pancake breakfast and yard sale. Information: 941-778-0414.

8 a.m.-The second annual Anna Maria Elementary School  Dolphin Dash consists of a 5k run beginning at 8 a.m., followed by a 1-mile fun run.  Entry forms are available in the school administrative office. Pre-registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children under age 16.

8:30 a.m. - The Kiwanis Club of Anna Maria Island meets for breakfast and a program at Cafe on the Beach, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. The scheduled speaker is Cindi Harrison of Anna Maria Elementary School. Information: 941-795-8697.

  • Anna Maria resident Jay Canterbury is the featured artist this month at the Arts Council of Manatee County Gallery, 926 12th St. W., Bradenton. The exhibit showcases photographic abstracts. Information: 941-746-2223.
